Collection Kimmerle, Myrna J. Nielson
Photo Number 5051.8
Description Kimmerle Mill: ball mill and engineer McBride, who is carrying out the orders of the photographer to look "handsome". He is standing with his hand on the mill -- which is about as high as top of his chest. He is wearing levis, long-sleeve shirt, and a hat. According to Leland Shumway, "The machine above is called a ball mill. Put ore in it and a bunch of steel balls, and turn the wheel with small motor to rotate. It mashes the ore into fine sand, then drops through screen into large vats of hot water and chemicals."
